Doctor Who will get a whole new cinematic look for Jodie Whittaker's first series in 2018.
According to Broadcast, the production company Films at 59, who hire cameras and equipment to BBC Wales for Doctor Who, are supplying Cooke anamorphic Prime lenses and Angenieux Optimo anamorphic zooms lenses that will be used with ARRI Alexa XT and ARRI Alexa Mini cameras for the first time as the production team move to make a more filmic look for the show.
According to Films at 59, director Jamie Childs and director of photography Dennis Crossan requested lenses that would bring an increased cinematic look to the show which went into production at the end of October this year.

“The BBC have made a monumental leap here to enhance the look of Doctor Who,” says Films at 59 hire client manager Dave Wride. “I’m sure the fans will not be disappointed with the distinctly cinematic results that this lens and camera combo will afford them.”
