The BBC are reportedly looking to cast an actor in the mould of David Tennant for the Thirteenth Doctor.
In a recent report by The Mirror, an unnamed source said that BBC bosses are firmly committed to recreating the glory days of the Tenth Doctor era.
If you were hoping for a female Time Lord this time around, you may be disappointed, as the BBC have set their sights on finding a dashing male actor in his 30s.
“A lot of younger fans have been lost in the last few years, especially young females and the gay male audience,” the source says.
“The revenue from merchandising has nose-dived, and they want to rectify this by casting someone in the mould of David Tennant.”
It is also thought that new companion Bill Potts, played by Pearl Mackie will be replaced with another new female companion, who will be chosen by Chris Chibnall - the upcoming showrunner of Doctor Who - who will take charge of the TARDIS for 2018.
