The BBC have confirmed that a scene from this week's episode, The Pyramid at the End of the World, has been edited, in light of the recent terrorist attack in Manchester.
Speaking to the Radio Times, the BBC have said that passing references to terrorism were included as part of a general discussion on threats to the Earth in this episode, however the decision has been made to remove this scene, as a matter of sensitivity and respect.
"Following the tragic events in Manchester, we have made a small edit to this week's episode of Doctor Who," a BBC spokesperson has said.
The BBC had previously cut a scene from an episode back in 2014, due to events in the news at that time. The episode, Robot of Sherwood, originally mentioned real-life atrocities, and the decision was made not to broadcast this scene.
'The Pyramid at the End of the World' will air on Saturday, 27th May at 7:45pm on BBC One. It is just this one scene that has been removed, and the rest of the episode remains unedited.
