Steven Moffat, the former Doctor Who showrunner, has admitted he's seen Ncuti Gatwa in action and has shared his thoughts on the casting of the Fourteenth Time Lord.
“Finally I can admit it,” Moffat tells The Telegraph. “I’ve seen the new Doctor in action!
“Russell [T Davies] showed me the audition tape a while back. He is magnificent! All at once a brand new hero and the same wonderful, mad old Doctor we’ve always known.
He went on to reassure fans: “Trust me, we are all in for a treat!”
Steven Moffat was previously Doctor Who showrunner during the Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi eras and has written episodes for both Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant during their time as The Doctor. Moffat is also responsible for the co-creation of the BBC's adaptations of Sherlock and Dracula.
Ncuti Gatwa will replace Jodie Whittaker and take over as The Doctor in 2023, with Russell T Davies taking over from Chris Chibnall as the new Doctor Who showrunner.
Whittaker and Chibnall's final episode, the Centenary Special, will air in Autumn 2022.
