Peter Capaldi, who played the Twelfth Doctor, has shared his honest reaction to the news that Ncuti Gatwa has been cast as the Fourteenth Doctor.
"What a great story," he says. "A little boy who's family escaped from the genocide in Rwanda in 1994, and aged 2 finds refuge in Scotland, where he grows up to become Doctor Who. That's a story to be proud of!"
"With his huge talent and heart," Capaldi added, "I know Ncuti will make an amazing Doctor!"
