Ncuti Gatwa has been revealed as the actor who will play the Fourteenth Doctor and fans have been sharing their thoughts and praise ever since.
So how did the Sex Education star get cast in the role? How did it come about? Well, Ncuti has revealed exactly what happened in an interview with LADbible at the BAFTAs in London on the weekend.
"They contacted my team to ask me to audition," Gatwa says. "But it was really weird, because the week before I had randomly just said to my agent, 'A dream role would be Doctor Who,' and then the next week she called me and she was like 'You're never going to guess who's just asked you to audition!'
"So, dream big and manifest," he advised. "Manifestation is the flipping key!"
Gatwa continued to share his feelings now the news has been broken to the world: "It’s really exciting! I'm so happy to finally talk about it! Because it’s been a long time that I’ve known, and so yeah I’m happy that it’s out.
"I’m so grateful to be sharing the tenureship with Russell [T Davies] as well," he added. "He’s just the most incredible writer. I really fell in love with his writing in terms of watching the show. I just think he’s incredible, and so I feel very honoured to be part of it."
