Doctor Who Adventures magazine has sadly paused publication, Panini UK have announced.
The fortnightly magazine will be releasing no further editions as things stand, following the release of the next issue, which is due on sale on Thursday (22nd June 2017).
Readers who subscribe have today received an email notice, which confirms the news and unfortunately provides no details on if and when the magazine will return. Subscribers are now been offered their subscriptions converted to Doctor Who Magazine, or alternatively being cancelled completely.
Panini UK have released the following official statement:
"We are pausing the publication of Dr Who Adventures magazine and will not be publishing regular issues in the near future. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your loyalty to the magazine, which we greatly appreciate and we hope that you have enjoyed the title as much as we have. Current subscribers will be contacted in due course with regards to refunds."
The magazine, which originally launched back in 2006 and aimed at younger fans, was published every two weeks by BBC Magazines - part of BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC - following the huge success of the TV series, starring David Tennant and Billie Piper at the time, with Christopher Eccleston the previous year.
It is now assumed that the reason for this sudden pause in publication is due to the recent drop in circulation, with sales figures hitting an all-time low, achieving less than half of what Doctor Who Magazine are achieving. Many are now speculating that DWA may return in 2018 with Chris Chibnall and the Thirteenth Doctor, but this remains unconfirmed.
We're certainly very sad to hear that this wonderful magazine potentially coming to an end. Will you miss your fortnightly release of this all things Who? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
